How to Become a Member of BCJHA?
By becoming a member of the Canadian Junior Hereford Association (CJHA), it automatically entitles youth to be a member of the BC Junior Hereford Association. Junior members can attend shows, workshops, apply for scholarships and may even have the opportunity to travel abroad!
You can sign up to be a member at the Canadian Hereford website. Click Here For More Information
Benefits of Being a Member?
Bonanza
An annual national junior Hereford cattle show where youth can develop judging, grooming, showmanship, marketing, photography, literature, and public speaking skills with many individual, team and provincial competitions. It is four days of action-packed events hosted by alternate provinces throughout Canada every summer. Click Here For More Information
Heifer Lottery
Annually a lucky few members are drawn from active members to receive certificates that can be redeemed at sanctioned Hereford sales or from sanctioned breeders for the purchase of a registered Hereford heifer. Click Here For More Information
Semen Donation
CJHA conducts a draw annually to award donated semen to juniors who enter and nominate their females. This is a great opportunity to improve youth's breeding program by having access to free semen to artificially inseminate their own females from some of the top bulls in the industry. Leadership Opportunities
The CJHA is headed by a National Council comprised of two elected representatives and one adult advisor from each of the provincial Junior Hereford associations. From the 14 elected representatives a president, vice-president, secretary and communications officer are elected. The delegates are responsible for organizing and administering the many projects of the association.
Scholarship Opportunities
CJHA members have the opportunity to apply for scholarships for their post-secondary education. For more information on how to apply, be sure to check out the CJHA website. Click Here
CJHA Calendar
Each year, the CJHA creates a Hereford Calendar. It highlights significant events throughout the year and includes a gestational calendar and a quick contact list to CJHA Delegates and CHA Staff. This calendar showcases breeders across Canada through full-page and business card advertisements.
